Carrageenan: The International Agency for Research on Cancer and the National Research Council of the US both have determined that carrageenan is a carcinogen.

Titanium Dioxide: Classified as expected to be toxic or harmful

Hydroxyacetophenone: Causes skin irritation Causes serious eye irritation May cause respiratory irritation

Preservatives

Methylisothiazolinone: synthetic preservative, The US EPA reports the LC50 value is very toxic to aquatic life.

ParfumKnown human immune system toxicant or allergen. Causes skin allergies in children. Causes respiratory irritation in people, exacerbates asthma. Has high acute toxicity to aquatic life.

Fragrance: Known human immune system toxicant or allergen, causes allergic contact dermatitis, causes skin allergies in children, exacerbates asthma, has high acute toxicity to aquatic life.

BRAND   with phytic acid

Endocrine disruption (low), Non-reproductive organ system toxicity (moderate), and Irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs) (low). This substance causes severe skin burns and eye damage, is harmful if swallowed, and causes serious eye damage.

Sodium Phytate: Phosphates in detergent cause lake pollution and eutrophication.

Benzisothiazolinone: synthetic preservative, toxic,  is not anaerobically degradable. and skin sensitizer.

❌ Sodium benzoate: preservative (Bio-accumulative and cancer-causing food preservative)

Causes serious eye irritation

Phenoxyethanolpreservative classified as an irritant, toxic, and harmful. Can have adverse effects on the central and peripheral nervous systems, linked to allergic contact uritica and dermatitis. Made by the reaction of corrosive phenol with carcinogen ethylene oxide.

Exposure to phenoxyethanol has been linked to reactions ranging from eczema[2] to severe, life-threatening allergic reactions.[3] Infant oral exposure to phenoxyethanol can acutely affect nervous system function.[4]

❌ Ethylhexylglycerin: Classified as an irritant, this substance causes serious eye damage. Severe eye damage was observed in animal testing. Liver effects observed at low doses in repeat-dose studies in rats. This substance is harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Ethylhexylglycerin: highly relevant, sensitizer in 'hypo-allergenic' cosmetics. To report on 13 patients who presented with allergic contact dermatitis caused by ethylhexylglycerin.

Citric Acid: unless it is derived by is from frozen lemon and orange peels, conventional cheaper lab-made citric acid Manufactured citric acid (MCA) is derived from a mold. "Approximately 99% of the world’s production of MCA is carried out using the fungus Aspergillus niger, a known allergen, identified merely as "citric acid" in ingredients lists. The FDA has generally considered it safe, but no scientific studies were performed to evaluate the safety of MCA when ingested in substantial amounts and with chronic exposure."  Depends on which citric acid method a company wants to use.  A synthetic option or natural.  Synthetic is cheaper. Better preservatives

SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE   Sodium dehydroacetate is an antimicrobial ingredient used as preservative.

PHENETHYL ALCOHOL Phenethyl Alcohol is an aromatic alcohol. fragrance ingredient, preservative, and masking

CAPRYLHYDROXAMIC ACID

Also sometimes referred to as Octanohydroxamic Acid. This is a plant-based amino acid that’s broken down from raw virgin coconut oil. Acts as a preservative to prolong the shelf-life of products, so that it’s antimicrobial. This ingredient helps to prevent bacteria growth in babycare products. Used instead of parabens in some formulations.

Squalane: 

According to PETA's  Squalane is Shark Liver Oil. Used in lubricating creams and lotions. Derivatives: Squalane, Squalene

Sharks are considered high in mercury and other heavy metals because they are large fish. Studies: Sharks are long-lived apex predators which can accumulate toxic metals such as mercury and arsenic

Sharks are at risk of extinction

Fragrance

PHENETHYL ALCOHOL Phenethyl Alcohol is an aromatic alcohol. fragrance ingredient, preservative, and masking

LILIAL: Suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child. Lilial’s use isn’t limited to personal care products. It’s also used as a fragrance ingredient in household cleaners and detergents. 

EU’s European Commission classified lilial as a “reprotoxic and it banned it.

"Lilial is a fragrance used in many cosmetics and household products but has been labeled a reproductive toxin by an amendment to the European CLP Regulation and it will be prohibited in cosmetic products from 1st March 2022."
