Piñatex Vegan Leather

🍍 Piñatex™, is a vegan, sustainable leather made from the pineapple leaf fibres.  It was created and developed by Dr. Carmen Hijosa. She spent over 7 years in research and development perfecting her amazing new invention a by-product of the pineapple harvest

The vegan  leather is strong, durable, breathable, beautiful and 100% natural,  even cheap and environmentally friendly to make!

Since Piñatex material is the by-product of the pineapple harvest, it is made without  extra land, water, fertilizers or pesticides to produce it. Fibres get made into a mesh, that goes through a few short mechanical and chemical processes before reaching their end result.

Carmen wanted the fabric  strong enough to be used as one would use leather, without compromising the sustainability of the process.

Piñatex provides opportunities for farmers with the harvesting of pineapples, and reduce the  animal textiles in fashion. A tropical fruit  is changing the leather industry and the sustainable fashion world.🍍
